Sacha Lodge Amazon Ecuador

Sacha Lodge is located in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest, strategically situated beside the tranquil Lake Pilchicocha. The lodging at Sacha was carefully designed to offer comfort for guests yet preserve the environment and rainforest ambience. Each of the 26 cabins comes fully equipped with modern amenities such as ceiling fans and electrical outlets. The cabins were constructed with traditional materials. Each of the double cabins feature high-thatched roofs and private shaded terraces.

At Sacha Lodge guests are divided into groups no larger than six, and each group is led by a bilingual naturalist guide and a native Quichua guide, with ancestral knowledge of the rainforest.

The Observation Tower constructed around an ancient Kapok Tree, the 135-ft (43 m) tower offers amazing 360-degree views. Observe Toucans, Parrots and dozens of colorful birds, an experience not to be missed.

Canopy bird walk (one of the largest walkways on the planet for a birds-eye view located within Sacha’s private reserve, 2 miles from the shores of the Rio Napo and 1-mile from the lodge, the bird walk gives guests the opportunity to get an up close and personal view of the rainforest canopy. Two of the three towers have observation decks every 40-ft (12m), making the towers accessible for everyone. The 900-ft (275m) long canopy walkway suspended 120-ft (36m) above the forest floor, gives guests a bird-eye view of all the wonders and beauty the tropical rainforest has to offer.

Your journey to Sacha begins in Quito, Ecuador’s capital city. From here, embark on a 35-minute flight over the majestic snow-capped peaks of the Andes Mountains and then down 8,500-ft (2,600m) into the Amazon Basin. Arrive at Puerto Francisco de Orellana, locally known as Coca, you will be met by a naturalist guide and taken to Sacha’s private house, with modern facilities, where you will be serves lunch before being taken to the town docks. Here Sacha’s own covered, motorized canoe will be waiting to take you on a 2-hour, 50-mile (80km) journey down the Rio Napo, one of the Amazon Rivers tributaries.

Upon arrival to Sacha’s 5000-acre (2,500-hectares) private reserve, a 30-minute walk on raised boardwalk will lead you to Lake Pilchicocha. Here, native paddlers will be waiting with dug out canoes to carry you across the lake to your final destination. Welcome to Sacha Lodge!.
