Loja and Vilcabamba Tour

DAY 1:  SARAGURO Y LOJA

We will have a visit in Saraguro to see the fabrics, the square and the houses of the community.

LOJA CITY TOUR :

We will visit the parks and important monuments of the city, monument entrance to the city, Parque Jipiro & zoo. Panoramic views of the city, religious and art museums.

DAY 2: VILCABAMBA

We will have a full day in a hostel in Vilcabamba “Descanso de Ramses” where we will have the use of the facilities: swimming pools, green areas, and we will have our lunch at the inn.

On our way back to Loja, we will visit the wine and biscuit factories.

DAY 3: CISNE AND COME BACK TO CUENCA

CISNE

70 kilometers from Loja, on a summit of 2440 meters high, with an average temperature of seven to 10 degrees, a population of 1532 inhabitants and in the middle of a humble village of peasants, stands a huge Gothic Temple, very crowded during all year.

The temple is imposing in itself and greater grandeur gives its location on the summit of a steep mountain and surrounded by modest traditional buildings. Inside, an image of the Virgin Mary carved in cedar is venerated at the end of the 16th century by Don Diego de Robles.

Toda Loja devotes six months a year to pilgrimages, masses and parties with music in honor of this virgin. The pilgrimages begin on the first of May, for the month of Mary, with the session of the enlarged town council of Loja in the Sanctuary. In July, the visits of the faithful intensify, reaching about 300,000 in August.
