Share a day with the Achuar families, hike in the rainforest, canoe the rivers and lakes, swimming, pink dolphins, watch piranhas, see caimans and other animals in the area, as well as bird watching. As a small group (no larger than 10) led by a Naturalist and an Achuar Guide, you will have different options of activities. Your journey will include visits to the local communities, where you can learn about their beliefs and traditions. Because of the significant cultural contribution to the Achuar people, we give our guests a briefing about the Achuar culture, their ethics, and some suggestions about how to behave during this activity.
Overnight camping can be arranged in the communities, where you can share with the locals some of their daily rituals. We offer three alternative programs on a number of walks: easy, moderate and more difficult.
Easy: Short hikes in the rainforest (up to 2.5 hours) on well-defined trails, visits to the Achuar communities, trips in canoes and excursions on rafts and kayaks.
Moderate: Medium distance hikes in the rainforest (up to 4 hours) and sometimes crossing flooded areas.
More difficult: Demanding hikes (over 4 hours) and in some cases all day or more in poorly defines, hilly, and often flooded trails.
Our staff will carry food and supplies for longer expeditions. Excellent physical condition is required.
